3D geometry reconstruction of human tissue is a core module of virtual surgerysystem, and it is also a hot issue in the field of medicine. The geometry model isthe basic and guarantee of the following study about virtual surgery system, andits quality directly affects the virtual surgery system. In addition,3D geometryreconstruction of human tissue can also assist doctors to make an accurate andefficient medical diagnosis for patients and then improve the success rate of realsurgery. It has been widely used in plastic surgery, bionic manufacturing,anatomy teaching, virtual surgery and other fields.Image pre-processing method and3D reconstruction are included in3Dgeometry reconstruction of human tissue. In this paper, the image pre-processingis mainly the medical image segmentation. Region growing method and a kind ofinteractive segmentation are used in the image pre-processing module. Thegrowth criterion based on gray level difference is used in region growing method.It has a fast operational speed and is good at segmentation of the tissues with agreat gray level difference. The boundary filling algorithm is used in theinteractive segmentation. The image segmentation can be done by drawing anypolygon manually. This method wastes a lot of time but the accurate results ofthe image segmentation can be got through this method because it can not beaffected by the similar feature between different tissues. In this paper, due to thecombination of the advantages of both methods,the efficient image segmentationis achieved. The Marching Cubes algorithm is used in the3D reconstructionmodel. This Algorithm is suitable to run on ordinary computer because it has ahigh operational speed and occupy a small amount of memory.Visual Studio2010is selected as development tool to design and develop a3Dreconstruction of human tissue system with language C++. It can be used aloneand also a module of virtual surgery. The system includes medical imagesegmentation and3D reconstruction modules, and the model visualization is achieved. This system has been used to reconstruct sartorius muscle, femur andhip bone accurately. These geometry models show the structure of hip reasonably,and become the foundation of virtual surgery system.
