Nowadays, knee arthroscopic surgery is a useful way for reconstructing anterior cruciate ligament. But there is some weakness in this surgery. For example, the operation surgery is difficult and training hard and different observation way with traditional surgery and high ability in eye-hand coordination and so on. So that it will cost houseman a long time to master this surgery. Virtual surgery provides a new way for knee arthroscopic training. It can not only improve the efficiency of the training, but also can reduce the cost of training. How to construct a realistic virtual surgery environment and operation simulation is the key to developing virtual surgery. In this paper, create3d models of knee by3d reconstruction and simulate the operation of surgery by using virtual software. This article mainly studies in the following aspects.Firstly, virtual surgery environment is constructed. Due to knee is the largest and most complex joint in human body,3d reconstruction base on CT an MRI images is used to get the realistic3d models of knee. According to the distinct characteristics of CT images, threshold segmentation and regional growth is selected to finish the extraction of femur、tibia and patella. Because of the unobvious distinction of each area in MRI images, but the number of images of meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament is less in the MRI image sequence, manual segmentation is used to extract meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament. After segmentation, importing images into mimics software to get the3d models of femur、 tibia、patella、meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament.Secondly, studying the development process of visualization toolkit and developing a surface rendering system. This system can read CT images sequence and finish surface rendering according to the value which is set by user to extract isosurface.Thirdly, in order to improve the authenticity of simulation surgery, each process of surgery of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is studied. Develop a simulation surgery of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction by Eon Studio and realize virtual monitor and virtual arthroscopy. Provide a way to realize pick up function base on collision normal to improve the authenticity of operation of simulation surgery. At last, design a simulation system and develop the UI base on MFC. Build up message delivery between system and Eon application and realize the function of model list, for example show or hide model and change opacity of model. Web browsing and searching is finished by ado and web control so that users can browse and search some related to the operation of knowledge conveniently.
