With the rapid development of computer technology, image processing and three- dimensional visualization, great changes have taken place in the field of surgical diagnosis and treatment method. In recent years, the appearance of virtual surgery planning system proved that the information science has been rapidly developed and combined with modern medicine. The paper takes clinical application as the background. Through making use of abdominal CT images, it cuts up interesting information and reconstructs 3D geometrical model. And then it can accurately indicate the 3D information of the liver as well as the inner vessel structure. In the end, the virtual hepatic surgery planning system is developed and researched. The system can direct the process of hepatic surgery. In the paper, the author mainly focuses on studying several key techniques in virtual hepatic surgery planning system. The main work of this paper is described as follows:At the part of image segmentation, a new automatic segmentation way which is based on associating region growing method with level set evolution is proposed. Liver is successfully cut up from abdominal CT images and experiments prove that the algorithm has obtained better result of automatic segmentation. By considering the characters of hepatic blood vessel, a new method that combines fuzzy clustering and detection of connectivity in 3D is proposed for hepatic blood segmentation based on abdominal CT images. The method realized the 3D segmentation of hepatic veins and portal veins. At the part of 3D reconstruction, the paper discusses that 3D reconstruction algorithms include surface rendering and volume rendering. Based on studying several common 3D reconstruction algorithms and the visualization tool (VTK), the paper compares advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms. At the part of data treatment, the virtual hepatic surgery planning system is designed and developed. The system can display the relationship among the liver and the inner vessel actually, accurately, quickly and offer some different 3D interactions with the doctors.
