With the rapid development of electronic information and the photovoltaic industry,a large number of crystalline silicon wafers are needed. In the photovoltaic industry,improve the efficiency of slicing can be further reduce manufacturing costs of solarmodules, making it more competitive in the development of new energy. Theelectroplated diamond wire saw has high slicing efficiency, in this paper the traditionalsteel core is replace by the twisted three steel cores.The three-core twisted diamondwire saw for industrial use is successful manufactured,which based on the traditionalelectroplated diamond wire saw manufacturing technology. Slicing experiments ofingots are accomplished by using the diamond wire saws. cutting performancesincluding mechanical property, slicing efficiency and surface quality of themulti-crystalline silicon are studied.Raw materials and technology which are Suitable for large-scale industrializedproduction are adopted. Nickel-plated diamond abrasives about20~40μm are fixed onthe that is made of three φ140μm piano wire. The three-core twisted wire saw having adiameter of350μm (±20μm).The final length is5200m and maximum tensile strengthis172N.This paper study the cutting principle and the surface quality by Slicingexperiments of ingots using the diamond wire saws. In the same slicing condition, thethree-core twisted wire saw shows smaller wire bow and less wear loss than the singlecore wire saw that include domestic and overseas during the slicing process. The wirebow is approximately reduced up to20%. It is indicated that the three-core twisted wiresaw has better cutting capability and surface quality than the single core wire saw.A study of the influence of three twisted wire core on the wear properties of wiresaw was performed. Under Lower feed rate, the three-core twisted diamond wire sawhas smaller wear; on the contrary, severe localized wear occur. Cutting capacity of the isrestricted by the contact area.In addition, the tensile properties of have been studied. The maximum tension oftwisted core is close to the three-core twisted wire saw. Comparing with a diamond wiresaw with single core, the three-core twisted wire saw shows better tensile properties and it’s tensile strength increased by about5%.The superiority of three-core twisteddiamond wire saw is obvious.
