This paper studies online quality inspection technology based on machine vision forelectroplated diamond wire,which is aimed at suppling a high effective online qualityinspection method for electroplated diamond wire to manufacturers, and facilitatingensuring products quality and cutting down the cost of production.During the study, the architecture of the online quality inspection system isdetermined and selection requirements of key parts is analysed according to requirementsof the system at first. Then image processing algroithm is designed according to featuresof quality inspection of electroplated diamond wire online. A connected componentslabeling algorithm based on run-length table searching is proposed to analyse the image.Then, a online quality inspection software is developed to fullfil the function requrementsof the system. Finally, the specification of the online quality inspection system is testedin factory.The physical work of this study includes a online image acquisition hardware and aonline quality inspection software. A speed synchronization image acquisition systemwith the camera and lens mountting on a mechanical arm is designed to reduce motionblur, and some key devices are slected and intergrated together to form the hardwaresystem. The image processing algorithm of the electroplated diamond wire qualityinspection technology based on machine vision is studied and the most suitable methodis determined according to the processing result of some common used algorithm. Aconnected components labeling algorithm based on run-length table searching is proposedfor the task of analysing and counting particle, which improves the analysis efficiency. Asimple calibration method with a one-dimensional standard micrometer is developed tofit in with calibration of small view field. The online quality inspection software which isdeveloped with MFC has a control program of the speed synchronization imageacquisition system, and it can collect sensors with usage of OPC and ethernet, and storethe data with SQL Server. The software also realizes functions like parameters setting,image capturing, analysis and display, result display and storing and so on.The experimental results show that the designed speed synchronization imageacquisition system can decrease motion blur effectively and increase image definition;the proposed connected components labeling algorithm based on run-length table searching is professional designed and high efficiency; the precision and validity of thedesigned calibration method can meet the system needs; inspection result of the studiedonline quality inspection system is reliable and accurate and reaches primary target.
