Vane pump is widely used in a variety of hydraulic systems of machine tools andengineering machinery and so on for their high requirements on speed stability, as it possessesmany features such as compact size, low weight, uniform flow and low yawp. The rapiddevelopment of modern industry calls for vane pump to improve its performance and shortenits development cycle. The traditional mechanical design method needs to repeat the processof trial-produce, experimentation and modification constantly, and it is difficult to adapt to thedemand of present market competition for its long design cycle, low precision and poorreliability. Therefore, it is important to develop a CAD/CAE/PDM integrated design platformfor vane pump with modern design method to make the integration of design, analysis anddata management of van pump.With the double action vane pump as a study object, the technology of top-down designbased on Pro/E, the secondary development of Pro/E based on Pro/TOOLKIT, the secondarydevelopment of ANSYS based on APDL and the database access technology based on ADOwere researched, a CAD/CAE/PDM integrated design platform of vane pump was developed,and the design, modeling, analysis and process data management for vane pump were realized.Details are as follows:(1) The integrated design platform of vane pump was comprehensive planed according tothe requirement of the integration of design and analysis for the vane pump. The intergratedmode of CAD/CAE and the data stream of design platform were researched and analyzed, andthe key techniques for the development of integrated design platform were analyzed solved.(2) The management database of vane pump was designed after the data stream of theintegrated design platform of vane pump was analyzed. The database access technology basedon ADO was researched, and the data access and management to the design platform wererealized.(3) The existing structural features of double action vane pump were summarized andanalyzed, then the overall structure of vane pump was determined. The design theories ofvane pump were collected and sorted, the process of the structure design automaction of vanepump was researched.At the same time, the structure design module was developed on its basis and the function of automatic design for vane pump according to the requirements wasrealized.(4) The overall parameterized modeling of the vane pump was built on the basis ofstudying the top-down design technonlogy based on Pro/E. The parametric modeling moduleof the vane pump was developed based on the use of Pro/TOOLKIT to Pro/E for thesecondary development. Through the module, users can make the regeneration of modes byimporting the structure parameters of vane pump parts.(5) The CAD/CAE data exchange mode was studied and the seamless connectionbetween Pro/E and ANSYS was realized. The structure analysises of main components for thevane pump were executed and the structure analysis templates of vane pump were constructed.Then ANSYS was developed by the use of APDL and the automatic structure analysis of vanepump was realized.Through the CAD/CAE/PDM integrated design platform of vane pump, the previousdesign cases can be called quickly. And the vane pump also can be designed, modeled,analyzed and production data saved quickly according to the actual demands. It can shortenthe design cycle, reduce the design cost and enhance the product market competitiveness.
