Along with the rapid development of our national industry,the application of complex curved surface becomes more and more wide so that the research about high-efficiency machining process turns to be the key factor in the competition among enterprises, and further more the improvement in the machining level of complex curved surface becomes the focus for each enterprise.In this thesis, one kind of complex curved surfaces — a vane is taken into consideration. Based on the investigation about the current machine building, industry and some popular software widely used, the smallest radius of curvature on a curved surface and the choice of the best suitable cutter radius are calculated fitting in a group of special discrete knots and then, the NC machining simulation is carried out. The B-Spline surface generation algorithm and its geometry formulas are used during above research process.The realization of this system can make it possible to select the most suitable cutter efficiently and accurately in the machining process of a vane without trying -test again and again, reduce the waste of material and cutting tool due to failure of cutters-test significantly, increase the machining efficiency, shorten the fabrication period and as a result , promote the development of the machine building industry and increase the profit of enterprises.
