With the innovation and development of the microelectronic technology and thesemiconductor industry,the integration level and technological level of integratedcircuit have been enhanced significantly,which makes it possible to integrate a systemon a semiconductor chip.Thus,a new era of SOC(system on a chip)in digitaltechnology has come.However,it is still difficult for engineers to conduct SOC designin laboratory due to the limit of manufacturing technique and experimentalconditions.SOPC is the a solution to system on programmable chip provided by AlteraCorporation,which integrates CPU,memory,I/O connection,the DSP module,lowvoltage difference technology(LVDS), the clock data restores technical(CDR),phase-locked loop(PPL)and other modules that are needed in system designing on apiece of FPGA to constitute a programmable SOC.The Nios embedded processor, aSoft Core CPU made by the FPGA production manufacturer Altera Corporation,is akind of general RISC embedded CPU flexibly customized.Nios,provided to the userby Soft Core,is used to integrate SOPC and optimize FPGA of Altera Corporation.In this paper, combined with the development trend of embedded system, thedeep study of the domestic and foreign SOPC areas of the latest information, get ridof traditional embedded system development method of limits, research andapplication of SOPC technology hardware and software design tools and methods,based on ALTERA’s NIOS Ⅱ processor with IP soft core technology in SOPC systemdesign and implementation.The design and implementation of the system from the design and process ofspeaking, is a typical top-down, modular way. From the design means of speaking,extensive and thorough ground is developed using computer software to builddevelopment platform, efficient design and implementation.From the design level of speaking, the system is divided into the part of thehardware design and software design. The hardware design of the system and thesystem is divided into core board function expansion board, all with function unitdesign; software is divided into IP soft core design and operating system, SOPCsystem design.From the functional characteristics, the system has real-time data acquisitionfunction, can be measured in real time signal frequency, the temperature of the environment, clock monitoring, real-time voltage; with a variety of high speed signalgenerating function; with the DC motor control and test function, and music playingfunction; with I2C, USB2.0and other interfaces; customized much IP nuclei havebeen validated, and has strong portability. The system is reasonably transplantedUCOSⅡ kernel as the operating system, with PC software in PC terminal to thefunction of remote control system.The system has various functions, abundant interface, stable and reliable,superior performance characteristics, and is easy to be extended, easy upgrade, easyto transplant, has strong adaptability and extensibility. It can be widely used inteaching and scientific research and production practice.
