With the rapid development of information technology, people’s demand for mobilewireless communications is growing faster than ever before. Integration of computernetworks and wireless communication technology, Wireless local area network (WLAN)was born, wireless access point (AP) device is used to eliminate the bottleneck betweenthe computer and intelligent mobile terminal, thus make the mobility, personalization andmultimedia applications of the communication can be achieved.Due to the transmission medium’s uncertainty, terminal’s mobility removable andother characteristics of the WLAN, Base station AP WLAN access technologies andimplementation are becoming particularly important. This requires a base station APconstantly adopting new technologies and optimizing the network topology, using the highpower, high sensitive, and strong anti-jamming capability AP to achieve a wide range ofcoverage and efficient transmission.This paper analyzed the features, advantages, and limitations of WLAN base station,compared the advantages and disadvantages between smart antenna base station AP andIEEE802.11n high power station AP. Deeply studied how to design the high-performanceWLAN base station AP, focused on the hardware designing for the AP access of WLANbase station, used an analysis and comparison method to test and analyse the performanceof WLAN base station AP, also summarized the advantages and disadvantages of thissolution, finally made some prospects on the future of this research.
