As reality TV show is a new form of TV program, its influence has almostswept through the globe in the last century. It has been14years since the China’s firstreality show “Survival Challenge” emerged in2000. Today, reality shows have rapidlyrisen to be the leading role on the TV screen in China. From “Super Girl” to “WhereAre We Going, Dad”, from “China’s Got Talent" to "If You Are the One". Reality TVshows are creating new social topics and records of audience rating one after another.With its continuous development, reality TV show also meets the "growing pains".At the present stage, the document literatures from the perspective of aesthetics canrarely been found for the research on reality TV shows in China. However, referring to alarge number of related literatures on aesthetics and analyzing the success or failurestories of the reality TV shows in China are good measures to be taken. Theories arelinked with practice to expand development space of the reality shows and to rid of thehat of “copycat” and the growing pains.This paper discusses on three main sections, i.e.,"the general situation of China’sreality TV show","analysis on the reality TV shows under the horizon of receptionaesthetics" and "exploration of reality TV shows in China from the perspective ofreception aesthetics". The paper also briefly analyzes different sorts of reality TV showsin recent years of China, such as entertainment shows, life service shows and publicservice shows, so as to demonstrate the real full situation of reality shows in China andto seek the development direction.
