Research On Behaviors Mechanism Of Collaborative Information Seeking And R Etrieval In The Context Of Scientific Research Team

As a research focus in the filed of Library and Information Science,the scope and content of studies on Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval is continuing to be broadened Presently. However,the empirical Studies on Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval,especially the empirical Studies in the context, has hardly been studied. This article is to conduct a study to explore the behaviors mechanism of Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval based on the Colleges and universities’knowledge-intensive team members.In this paper, data were collected through421questionnaire, which are from different colleges and universities.Data wre analyzed by SPSS software for descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis,by AMOS software for confirmatory analysis and structural equation model.The main content and results of this study are,(1) Behavioral characteristics of Collaborative Infonnation Seeking and RetrievalThe triggers of Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval are problems arising from the various phases of the project,these problems are usually can not be completed alone or cost too much effort and time to completed by team members.During the Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval process, three forms of cooperation were more often taken by the academic research team,they were:The person in charge resolved the task into N sub-task to other different members,Members find some information together and discuss the searching strategies,Members share the results which were edited in electronic form.The content shared and exchanged in the Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval were:The original literature, keywords, study notes, search strategies.Team members played different roles:General members played the role of information collector and provider, project leader mainly as a verifier and group management,core members as information provider and index or summary writer to deal with concluding work.The contribution of the members in the Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval were not equal,followed by:Core members, project leader, general members.Compared with the personal information search,the recall ratio of information of the Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval in the context of scientific research team changed most.The reason followed by:Communication of the team,the role of the members played in the project,the role of the cooperation and the willings to cooperate.Team in creased not only the valuable documents,but also the knowledge of the project or task through Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval,at the same time, adequately address the information needs of the members, thereby improving the efficiency of the team.(2) Six main factors of Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval in the context of scientific research team were extracted, they were:Cooperated information use, self-literacy, willings, team atmosphere, information needs, topic and interest.These factor were thought to construct influence factor modles.(3)This article verified the second-order model of influence factors.And by the path analysis, the influence factor were ordered:team atmosphere, information dissemination capabilities, self-efficacy,information needs.(4) This article finally discussed the elements constituting the Collaborative Information. Seeking and Retrieval in context at the theoretical level and exploered the behavioral mechanisms.
