Once I saw an article in a technology Transcend website reviews on paper media, with aneye-catching title-"10%of the paper media digitization, What were they thinking?" Although"Newspaper will die " has been an hot topic for an long time. The article above is about the reformand transformation of Concerned Newspaper. In such an era of new media which swept theaudience and advertising exodus, The newspaper as traditional media are bound to make a changewith the tide, against the doom. Of course, the direction of change is very clear-to get closer tothe new media. Many newspapers are gradually practicing–they create the network version、electronicversion、the phone APP and so on. They are doing all that they can do to constantly updated mediato deliver news content. However, we found out that even they worked so hard to move Internetcontent digitization, newspaper profits doesn’t get risen.Yet some of the best financial newspaper completed a magnificent turn, such as the British "TheFinancial Times" and "The Wall Street Journal". Owning a smaller range of audiences, it isdifficult for professional newspaper to compete with the popular newspapers originally. But withthe help of the new media, they completed a "counter-attack" in the range of distribution, subscriptions, and profitability. At present, both "The Financial Times", and "The Wall StreetJournal", enjoy a great brand influence in many countries, is loved by the practitioners in the fieldof political and economy. We have to re-measure the growth space of the Chinese financial newspaper, and rethink aboutthe road of Chinese financial newspapers and e the transformation of the newspaper industry as awhole."The Economic Observer" as the new financial media was founded in2001.Due to thesupport of private capital, it went on in the independent market-oriented road. After12years ofdevelopment in the field of financial media,it has formed its professional brand characteristics. Asa traditional media, in the face of the wave of the impact of new media technologies, it also take alot of reform measures, such as the establishment of new media technology department, takedifferent media to publish the electronic version, PDF version and other versions. It is in thetransformation, but achieved little compared with " The Financial Times" and "The Wall Street Journal".Then why? the Economic Observer’s reform is not completed, the mode of production andprofit model is still the same as the traditional methods of traditional newspapers. They still writeand report news as usual, don’t change into new media way. They still focus on the advertisingrevenue. In fact, Many domestic newspapers are facing this problem as well. The newspaper industry has ushered in the trend of digitization and internationalization. Tobe obtained in the new era of vitality, every facet of newspaper need to be changed around thecore of this new media technology, not only the news production and brand promotion, but alsothe expansion of the business model and the selling channel.
