The electronic degree of modern warfare grows increasingly, and so does thedemand for battlefield information. There for the fast-changing modern warfare, thestudy of battlefield surveillance radar which is used to get battlefield intelligencehas great significance. Within the scope, battlefield surveillance radar can detect themoving target fast and exactly, calculate the position and velocity of the movingtargets, identify the number and characteristics of the target. In a word, it canreconnoiter the battlefield comprehensively, in real-time and in all-weather.By comparing common radar systems, LFMCW can be used as the work systemof the battlefield surveillance radar, considering that the LFMCW radar possessesgood range resolution, no blind distance and particularly, decent capability to resistbackground clutter as well as all kinds of interference. But with the question ofDistance-velocity coupling in the LFMCW radar, the multi-cycle symmetricaltriangle LFMCW signal is adopted as the radar transmitted signal, deriving theMTD-frequency domain pairing method to measure the exact distance and speedparameters of radar. Firstly MTD is used to simplify the target environment, thetargets with different fuzzy Doppler frequencies are distinguished against each otherand the exact distance and speed parameters of radar can be measured throughfrequency domain pairing method, then taking advantage of the symmetry of thesame target in the upper and lower band spectrum sweep. For the measurement errorcan affect the accuracy of the radar ranging seriously, and the position of the centerfrequency is not likely to be the sampling point,the discrete spectrum correctionmethod are essential.The typical battlefield surveillance radar ground clutter environment can beexpressed by model whose amplify are Weibull or K distributed and power spectrumgauss distributed. The simulation method to produce related clutter with the Weibulldistribution using ZMNL and to produce related clutter with the K distributionthrough SIRP is studied. Regarding the clutter with the Weibull distribution and thatwith K distribution, working flow of log-t CFAR detector and OS-GO CFARdetector are derived.The Matlab simulation parameters of the radar are set according to the analysisof the battlefield surveillance radar’s performance analysis. The simulation of thesignal processing in the background without clutter and noise verifies thecorrectness of the algorithm. Ratio correction method is used to correct the discretespectrum in the simulation of the signal processing in the background with clutterand noise,the target parameters obtained by matching the frequency domain method can reach the requirements of the radar ranging accuracy and velocity measurementaccuracy. Finally, the GUI of the radar’s display and control terminal is designed.
