With the popularity of smart phones and the acceleration of mobile network, thedomestic universities have established their own mobile libraries. The characteristic of the mobiledevice and the using way of fragmentation requires users to find and understand the information theyneed in a short period of time. It is the problem that the information architecture theory tries tosolve. Applying information architecture theory to the mobile library, will enrich the content of theinformation architecture theory, enhance the mobile library vitality and usability, meet theconvenience demand of users, and provide reference for other colleges and universities to establishedmobile libraries.Firstly, the demand and the satisfaction of the users are investigated in Nanjing University ofAeronautics and Astronautics for the current mobile library by the method of questionnairesinvestigation.Secondly, three cases of the mobile library of Fudan University, Nanjing University andCalifornia Institute of Technology are selected. They are analyzed from the perspective of the fourcore elements of information architecture, and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized.Thirdly, the mobile library of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is analyzedand the suggestions are put forward. Card sorting is used for the organization system. Theexperimental method is used to improve the identification system. Search and navigation system areanalyzed and the suggestions are put forward for global navigation and search system. Owing to lackof mobile academic database resources, and referring to the demand of users, the mobile version ofdatabase resources are collected, organized and achieved by HTML5.Finally, the suggestions are made for the information architecture of the mobile library, such aspDyLnJ morH DttHntLons to usHrs’ needs, updating the content of mobile library, optimizing thenavigation system and the organization system, improving the network environment and so on.
