In recent years, there has been a new enterprise hardware maintenance mode,which is called infrastructure hosting. It makes the increasing enterprise maintenancecost being controlled effectively. It also brings three changes to the traditionalinformation system. The first change is that information systems running spacetransferres offsite. The second change is that the platform which the information systemruns on turn from physical to virtual. The third change is that the hardware resource canbe adjusted dynamicly. These three changes bring three challenges to the traditionalinformation system maintenance mode which are composed of the maintenancegranularity requirement, the information system migrating complexity, and the real-timerequirement of the resource adjustment. This paper treats the three challenges as thebackground, and research the information system maintenance problem.This paper studies the overseas and domestic research status of the servervirtualization technology and virtual appliance techonology, and takes the virtualappliance simplifying deployment process for reference. This paper also combiningwith the characteristics of the cloud computing center maintenance platform, researchesas follows:1) Targeting the requirement of simplifying maintenance operation and dailymaintenance of the enterprise information system, this paper puts forward the virtualcomponent model. The virtual component model meets the first challenge.2) Taking the characteristics of the knowledge structure of the maintenancepersonnel in the cloud computing center into account, this paper designs the rule-basedmaintenance method to the virtual component, which improves the real-time level of thehardware resource adjustment.3) This paper designs the Virtual Component Manangement Environment(VCME),and implements four key modules in the VCME. The four key modules include P2V,maintenance rule library, VCManager and VCConfig. The VCME and the four keymodules verify the validity of the virtual component model and the rule-basedmaintenance method. This paper also explores the solution of the performance lossbrought by the VCME through tailoring operating system.4) In order to evaluate the maintenance complexity of the virtual component model,this paper puts forward a method base on two metric values. One metric value ismaintenance executing complexity, the other is maintenance success rate. This methodverifies the maintenance complexity of the virtual component model effectively.
