Application Of Virtual Machine Server Technology In Website Construction

Today, the performance of computers becomes higher and higher, but the utility rate of servers become lower and lower. An Internet company intends to run a web site with low cost in the beginning. Server consolidation with virtual machines is a good way to increase the utility rate of servers.This paper analyzes those requirements of the web site business, and comparing with other solutions to show that server consolidation with virtual machines provides some advantages:increasing the utility of resources as well as matching the increasing performance by simply adding servers. This paper also analyses some key issues and the corresponding solutions in server consolidation; according to the consolidation solution design of the web site, problems of choosing virtualization production and constructing the hardware platform are also addressed.This paper proposes a complete solution to consolidate servers of the web site with virtual machines, and in order to treat with those problems of selecting platform, deployment compatibility, single point of failure, load balance and performance optimization, shows how to make proper configuration and automatic reaction so that the web server can run steadily, efficiently, and reliably. Those implemented management system of automatic deploying virtual machines, updating production system without pausing the service, automatic system monitoring and maintaining, adaptive performance tuning, and optimized mechanism of backup and recovery have powerfully supported and guaranteed the web site steadily running.More and more small and middle internet web sites, as well as those newly startup web sites, will choose server consolidation with virtual machine to build themselves. With the development of cloud computing technologies and the mature of Infrastructure as a Service cloud, more and more web sites will run on virtual machines instead of on hardware servers.
