The IPv4protocol that has been used for30years is still the core protocol formodern internet. The upcoming depletion of the IPv4address resources reveals itsshortcomings. As a result, the transition from IPv4to IPv6has become a necessarytrend for network development. Tunnel technology is the key to solve theincompatibility problem during this process and weighs a lot at the early stage of thetransition. The upgrade of network equipment is the foundation for IPv6’s commercialdeployment and promotion. Researches and tests must be carried on network equipmentespecially on tunnel technology to make sure that whether they can fully supportnetwork interconnect of IPv6. But traditional tests can’t meet the new test requirementsfor those improving functions and fast updated versions. The testing program based oncloud computer called cloud testing can provide high efficient automatic testing services,which can remedy flaws in traditional test through unified management and dynamicallocation of test environments. Therefore, based on cloud testing system, theimplementation of automatic test suites will be of great importance in testing IPv6tunnel technology.Tunnel technology can be divided into three categories: configured tunnel,auto-configured tunnel and MPLS-based tunnel. Based on the further study of tunneltechnology, this dissertation describes the following aspects: firstly, it analyzes theworking principle of various tunnel technologies. Secondly, it works out the functionalrequirements of Smart Test Cloud (STC) system and probes into the overallarchitectural design of STC. In the next part, combined with RFC protocol standards,product demand and practical applications, test cases are figured out from basicfunctional test, combinatorial test, specification&pressure test. Different test points areput forward in full consideration of configured, auto-configured tunnels and hugedifferences existed in MPLS-based tunnel. TCL language is adopted to develop thescripts of six modules so that automatic test suites are implemented. At last, the supportof tunnel technology is confirmed by testing test suites on STC. The result hasdemonstrated that the effectiveness of the test suites designed in this dissertation.This dissertation describes a cloud testing system which provides useful experiencefor future researchers, and the test suites can ensure the reliability and stability of IPv6tunnel technology for network equipment.
