With the development of modern science and technology, mankind has enteredthe information age. Using the wireless access mode to surf the Internet and to gainthe latest information stably and effic iently, has become one of the urgent proble msto be solved. Nowadays, The WIFI access technology has gradually become thefocus of the telecommunication company from home and abroad. The function ofWIFI access can be realized based on the GPON ONT chip, then the optimizationmethod can be used to improve the performance of the data interactive and thestability of WIFI, that is one of the better solutions of high-speed wireless access.This solution has the advantages of high stability, wide coverage, high efficiency,strong mobility, bandwidth and so on, for most operators’ favor.This subject adopts a GPON ONT chip which is a self-designed chip, Theenvironment of embedded development can be established base on ONT boardwhich has the chip embedded, then it can be used to do embedded development.The ma in content of this subject is to build a embedded Linux system in the ONTboard, transplant the WIFI network card driver of RALINK company whichsupport802.11a/g/n, load the WIFI driver, configure the script of WIFI to make itwork on-line. Optimize the start process of PCIE, make sure that the controller ofPCIE has enough time to reset and can automatically identify WIFI card which hasinsert into the PCIE port. Research the calibration princip le of the frequency offsetand transmitting power of WIFI, use the IQview tool to establish the calibrationenvironment, design a process for the calibration, then adjust the frequency offsetand transmitting power of WIFI, test and compare the performance before and afterthe calibration, make sure that after the calibration the WIFI performance andstability have obvious improvement. After the calibration of the WIFI wireless card,add a work thread in the flow of the packet processing, which can count the timecost in the data packet in each segment, according to data which has the cost timeof the data packet in each segment, find there is a problem that the packetsfrequently turn over to the kernel stack, Therefore, add a module to optimize packetprocessing, before the packets have been handed to the kernel stack, therebyreducing the time cost by data packets frequently hand to the kernel stack, realizethe software acceleration of the performance of the WIFI, after the optimization,test and compare the performance of the data interactive and the stability beforeand after optimization, make sure that software acceleration is feasible.The content of this research is about the drive development and optimization which is at the bottom of architecture of embedded Linux system development.This design accords with the require ment of developing WIFI access function andat the same time conform to practicability, stability, interactive performance andother require ments of the users. This design idea can be a reference for other WIFIaccess equipment which based on embedded Linux.
