Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology research has gone through170years.Early in the19th century, people have begun to study the transmission signal on thepower line and made a number of possible ideas and solutions. However, due to thepower line transmission signal inherently not be suited to communicate, the PLCresearch is progressing very slowly.Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology is the use oforthogonal signals interfere with each other. OFDM stacking a plurality of subcarriersand transmitted. By stacking a plurality of sub-carriers in the channel, OFDMtechnology can significantly improve the channel capacity and the communicationspeed. Furthermore, OFDM technology also has to overcome inter-carrierinterference and inter-symbol interference.With the invention and development of OFDM in1960s, PLC technologyushered in a new development opportunity in the21st century and developed rapidly.The many advantages of OFDM technology can effectively overcome manyshortcomings of the power line.In this paper, OFDM as the core technology. Project developed by TexasInstruments (TI) digital signal processor TMS320VC5509A. Project developed byEasy5509development board. Project developed by TI’s Code Composer Studio(CCS) development tools. Project using MATLAB software to simulated. Projectdeveloped a low-voltage power line220V PLC system. The system compatiblecooperative enterprise standards.This paper analyzed PLC and OFDM technology. After years of development,PLC already has a very strong technical accumulation. OFDM technology has beenable to support the practical PLC.Based on the characteristics of the power line and the advantage of OFDMtechnology, analysised the solution of OFDM channel distortion, the averagedistortion minimization algorithm sequence. Then, according to this algorithm,designed a remote meter reading based on OFDM power line algorithm. Alsosimulated the algorithm.Designed the PLC system hardware. The PLC system hardware laboratoryenvironment tests show that the system performance under ideal channel had goodperformance and reached the standard in the actual channel.
