Research On Video-based Target Detection And Tracking Of Open Channel Flow Measurement

Intelligent Monitoring system is currently being studied and worldwide focused on in theglobal industry．These years，the application of IMS brings great economical benefit to coalindustry，and it plays a more and more important role in monitoring of open channel flow, beltspeed, turning speed, ventilation,etc．In this paper，as a important part of open channel flowmonitoring system, video floater detection and tracking technology is researched，it has a lotof advantages such as easy installation and maintenance，wide monitoring areas, providescritical support for the subsequent open channel flow or speed measurement.The paper addresses the principle of target detection and tracking of open channel flowmeasurement based on video in detail，design and achieve the whole system, get higherprecision than classic time difference way. This article mainly as follows：1.Describes the technology used video sequence capture. In this paper, VFW is used invideo program development.2.In this paper, for the video image sequence captured by camera, using ImageBinarization, Discrete Gaussian Smoothing Techniques for image processing.3.Detailed analysis of the common method of moving target detection, and for the openchannel flow’s character, the continuous frame difference method is adopted to detect movingobject．4.Detailed analysis of the Match tracking algorithm and the basic principles of Kalmantracking, according to the open channel flow for laboratory simulation platform,this paperpropose a shape and centroid tracking combined with Kalman filter to carry out floatertracking.5.At last, we use this system doing a lot of experiment under various contexts，and theexperiments results are well analysed．The results demonstrate that the system can do automatic floater detection and tracking with high real-time and moderate robustness．Sincethe software is written by VC++6．0in the Windows operation system，so how to migrate toother systems or embedded system platform we develop this under windows platform，andfurther improve the versatility and robustness has become the focus of future research work．...
