A Management Information System For Bank Self-service Equipments

With the rapid development of China’s financial industry，inter-bank competition hasbecome intensified. For those shareholding commercial banks with relatively smallerproperty scale and fewer sub-branches, fierce expansion is not a wise choice, due tothe restriction of capital adequacy ratio and their own management capacity. Thenewly developed self-service equipments, noted for its convenience,24hours’non-stop service, lower costs, etc, have now acted as the extensive antenna of thecommercial banks and are becoming increasingly popular within the commercial area.Now employed in a commercial bank, the author is one of the early practitioner of theself–service equipment. For the last ten years, with the continuous exploring, thequantity as well as the quality have been increased a lot, and the old self-servicemanagement system can not match up with the pace of business. How to utilize themodern technology and perfect the management system in order to raise efficiency,lower the cost and optimize the organization have become the main task for the bankstaff.The old self-service management systems are mainly used to base on the C/S mode,which had many limits. As now internet has been more and more a matter of commonpractice, the self-service is by no means an only branch uncollected with othersystems. Therefore, C/S mode has shown its deficiency in system maintaining,software updating, business expansion, etc.Taken advantage of years’ practice, and combined with the status-quo of national andinternational experience, the author has present a web-based self-service operatingsystem assumption and participated in the research and development of the system.Combined with the actual needs of a plurality of banks, the objectives of this systemare to build a perfect system for self-serving devices based on the B/S mode. It hasdefined a whole process to cater for the needs of the bank practical management,provided a complete automated tracking system and a platform of the equipmentmanagement. Meanwhile, it tries to discuss the related technology of key parts ofthe system.The new system, based on the web character, applying the net framework and B/Smode, as well as adopting the software engineering design idea, has not only satisfied the increasing business demand, but also show advantage of utility, accountability,and scalability, etc. The article presents the process of designing, especially focusingon the key points and difficulty, and displays the solution in details. Then it sums upthe advantages and disadvantages, and ends up with the prospect of its futureapplication.
