Distribution system is an important part of the power system, and the safe and stable operation of distribution network plays a vital role in China's national economic development. With social progress and economic development, both power system capacity and the number of users are increasing; the novel power power equipment put into operation continuously; the structure of distribution system becomes more complicated; and both the variety and the number of power equipment become larger. Confronted with such intricate and complex network structure and various devices, the traditional manual management approach has been difficult to ensure proper speed, reliability and convenience which the management of power system should have. Therefore, developing computer application systems which is adapted to the development of distribution system device management has become an inevitable trend of distribution system automation management.In this paper, the important technology in system development--NET technology and database theory are proposed based on detailed investigation of management process of the distribution system equipment, functional requirements analysis and technology options selection. Finally, we successfully developed an information management system of distribution network equipment based on B / S mode. The system consists of information of substation with different voltage levels and information of all equipment and cables map of the substation to realize the joint show of statistical reports and statistical graphs, information publishing and print output.Because this system is based on the B / S structure, it has high scalability and maintainability and it has an outstanding advantage opposed to the traditional C / S mode. This distribution network equipment information management system proposed in this paper has some advantages such as easy to use, simple operation and improved approach of equipment information management, avoiding the multi-layers management in traditional device information management and the low efficiency management full of loopholes and other vulnerability, significantly improving work efficiency. The system's successful development and implementation achieves a scientific management and maintenance of the distribution network; not only promotes the safe operation and management but also contributes to the standardization and modernization of the distribution network equipment management and achieves the goals of security, economic, efficient and civilized production.The system has been put into practice and its actual operation has produced good results.
