As HDTV and Mobile Multimedia steps into a booming age, video processingfield is driven to diverse branches by the power of market. As an effective way tospeed up the R&D of video processing algorithms and chips, a hardware platform wasdesigned and implemented in this paper to realize, verify and test related videoprocessing algorithms and modules. With standard analog video source and alternativeresolution display terminals, the platform is of more flexibility, versatility androbustness. Not only can be used as a universal verification platform for videoprocessing algorithms, the platform can be also applied as a test solution for videoprocessing chips.The hardware test platform consists of4parts, which are SAA7111A based videoADC input circuit, Virtex-II and Virtex-4FPGAs based video processing algorithmsimplementation circuit, QVGA, XGA, WXGA TFT-LCDs based output display anddriver circuit, and MCU and I2C bus based control circuit.Besides focusing on above circuits’ features, schematics and PCB layout, thepaper also analyzed high speed digital circuits’ signal integrity problems and relatedrestraining methods, which was applied in the circuits of the platform. For more, with3practical examples, the debugging process was also introduced in detail with testdata to show the assembling choices and system’s final video performance.After the process of structure dividing, device selecting, schematic and layoutdrawing, SI analyzing, PCB implementing, independent testing, system debugging,and real algorithm verifying, the test platform was theoretically and practically provedto correct and reliable. Its performance parameters can perfectly meet the demands ofvideo processing algorithms and IC chips.
