In2011, the Libyan War attracted much attention from people and media all around the world. From the perspective of international news domestication, media from different countries always reshape the same news event in different ways to meet the needs of their audiences and the limits from their governments and local society. Therefore, this study aims at researching on how newspapers in China and America cover the Libyan War.Collecting sample materials of4newspapers in China and America, the study focuses on3main R.Q., and the research methods used in the study are content analysis and qualitative analysis.Firstly, in order to know if sample newspapers domesticate the Libyan War, the study investigates media narratives of sample newspapers and finds out that those are absolutely different. As a result, newspapers both in China and America domesticate the Libyan War news, which actually is a course of reshaping.In the second part of this study, content analysis is utilized to find out the differences between the news reports of Chinese newspapers and American newspapers in terms of news sources, informed sources, news subjects and the tone of the coverage. So, what makes a same news event different when presented at the4newspapers in China and America? It is the news domestication. This study also lists4domesticating strategies commonly used by the4newspapers.Finally, this study summarizes possible influencers in domesticating international news, which are national interest, media system and domestic politics. In addition, domesticating influencers could possibly vary in different news subjects.
