In order to improve the interpretation quality of tourist attractions, and meanwhile to make the visitors have higher autonomy during the tour, this paper designs the wireless electronic interpretation system based on ZigBee which has the functions of multiple-language selection, mass storage, high quality, and automatic playback. This system not only enhances the efficiency and service quality, but also replaces the traditional manual interpretation completely.The wireless electronic interpretation system which based on ZigBee technology consists of two parts: wireless address-code transmitter and ZigBee hand-held interpretation terminal. The transmitter is installed at different scenic spots where need to be interpreted to emit different address-code. The sort of address-code should cover the entire district. Once the visitor comes into one of the scenic spots, the handset receives the particular address-code automatically to locate itself. And then corresponding interpretation file which storages in Flash is selected and played.The design used AT89C51SND1C which has audio decoding module as the main controller to finish the hardware system design, and gave circuit of each module. The paper discussed the detail of the software design, which includes the main controller, FAT system, ZigBee wireless communication and file’s play. Finally the system was evaluated by testing the handset’s performance and wireless links’coverage. The design can achieve the demand of the wireless electronic interpretation system.It is proved that this interpretation system has many characteristics, for example high quality, autonomous system and strong practicability. It provides the users the particular and autonomous wireless electronic interpretation system, which is not limited by guider and route, whose content is rich and objective, whose area identification is strong and above all, easily updated.
