Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a hot research topic in recent years, and it has wider application range, for example, RFID can replace the Barcode system which almost is tagged on every commodity. RFID may change our daily life and work style, and may promote the process of Industrial Automation, Home Automation, Transportation and Modern Agriculture. This doctoral dissertation is the summary of the past three year research works, and the PhD candidate selects the following three topics: RFID's interference to WPAN and WLAN (i.e., IEEE 802.11b, Bluetooth and Zigbee), a tracking algorithm in RFID reader networks, and a hierarchical RFID system architecture. The research results already have been applied for a PCT international patent, and already have been published in seven EI index papers. The publications appeared in FCST 2006, WiCom 2007, IC-BNMT 2007, Chinacom 2008 and Journal of China Universities of Posts and Telecommunications. The main contributions of this dissertation include researching the interference of RFID to WPAN and WLAN earliest in the international, proposed the concept of RFID reader network and the algorithm of tracking, proposed a hierarchical RFID system architecture which can greatly extent the working range and improve the reading speed.
