With the development of the Internet, enormous changes have taken place in people’s study, work and life and so on. As network information technology develops rapidly, college students have become the main force in the Internet users and their interpersonal relationship thus changes dramatically. The questionnaire takes 441 undergraduate students as the subjects and covers the aspects of college students’ Internet usage, real-world interpersonal relationship and network-based interpersonal relationship. The questionnaire survey and data analysis show that college students’ interpersonal relationship has completely changed in the network era: characterized by more diverse communication ways, wider communication scope, more extensive communication themes and more frequent interactions. Meanwhile, some new problems have also emerged such as the utilitarian tendency of making friends via business on WeChat, communication way represented by emphasizing the Internet and neglecting the reality reflected by the phenomenon of familiar strangers or faceto-face strangers, fixed communication scope as well as the pseudo-intimacy though with frequent interactions. In addition, the society, family, school, community and college students themselves all exert influence on the interpersonal relationship of college students in the network era. Colleges are the main base of talent cultivation and main place for college students to receive education. Colleges bear the responsibility to educate and guide college students’ interpersonal relationship and have become the main executors. From the perspective of school management, this paper has put forward the countermeasures and suggestions for decision makers, administrators, teachers and logistics providers to better educate and guide college students’ interpersonal relationship.
