Case Work Involved In Spiritual Consolation Of Elderly Empty-nesters In Community

With the continuous development of social economy, people’s living standards and health conditions both improved.At the same time China’s population age structure has changed.While population aging accelerated development, leading to more and more elderly empty-nesters’ appearance.In this large population,empty- nesters at 80 years or older, because of the body, age and other reasons they can not go out frequently to contact with people outside and the ability to accept new things is slower than before.Their emotional demands are not met for a long time, followed by loneliness, low self-esteem,depression and other psychological problems, so it is particularly necessary for this group of person to get spiritual consolation. While casework has its unique method advantage in spiritual consolation of elderly empty-nesters.It focus on needs of clients and social workers will try their best to find advantages and potentials of clients during intervention.Besides,clients can fully develop and use their social-support through casework intervention.Through visiting survey of elderly empty-nesters in M community, social worker found that the spiritual life of these people is generally simple, they are eager to have someone to talk to, the emotional expression of requirements not met for a long time. This article selects two representative elderly empty-nesters.According to the specific condition of the two, case work are carried out on the basis of reference to previous research results and related theories of social work conducted.Through case work involved, this article came to conclusions that we should conduct the case subject according to different needs and characteristics of the elderly empty-nesters.And relationship between families is very important to the spiritual consolation effect.For the most important,elderly empty-nesters should get rid of bad emotion conditions by themselves.For elderly empty-nesters spiritual consolation we present some suggestions as bellow:Firstly,elderly empty-nesters should gain the ability of self-spiritual consolation.Secondly,it is important to draw family members’ attention to the spiritual consolation of elderly empty-nesters.Thirdly,elderly empty-nesters should get more social support.
