Under the background of the rapid development of the world,countries and regions in the world attach great importance to the reform of basic education,our country has carried on the geography curriculum reform under the trend of the world curriculum reform,in 2003,enacting Common High School Geography Curriculum Standard(Experiment),after the emergence of four versions of high school geography textbook.Then the comparative analysis of the geography textbooks also entered a new stage.The United States is a powerful country in education, therefore, the selection of the physical geography of China and the United States is a natural part of the comparative analysis.Hope that through the comparison of the Sino US geography textbook analysis, draw the similarities and differences of geography textbooks of the two countries, from extraction of geography textbooks on the merits, provided some valuable suggestions for future reform and development of geography textbook in China.The dissertation selects the Chinese high school geography textbooks,People’s Education Press required 1(2008 February 3rd Edition) as part of the natural geography and Zhejiang Education Press translation Mc Graw- hill of the United States(Mc Graw Hill), published a set of American high school mainstream geography textbook "scientific discoveries: geography geology, environment and universe(upper, middle and lower)" natural geography part as the object of comparison,through the comparison method, literature method, case analysis and other methods, underthe construction theory and theoretical basis of, between China and the United States Geography textbook writing concept, geography curriculum standard, the teaching material structure, teaching material of the text system, image system. At the end of this paper, according to the comparative analysis of the physical geography of China and America, the paper puts forward the following suggestions to the geography textbooks(Required 1):In the compilation of Geography Textbook in our country, geographical key words can be added at the beginning of each chapter and section, increase the section of multi dimension images, the image annotation can be a little picture of the contents of the introduction,clear the steps of the experiment, enrich the type of geographical experiment,In the reading section, we can increase the current news which is closely related to geographical science,set the chapter to review the summary and review questions,add a number of geographical web site to provide students with a wider geographical learning platform.
