| The Book of Songs is the first Chinese poetry collection, which has a profound impact on the development of Chinese poetry. Even today, the aesthetic and cultural value of the Book of Songs is still highly appreciated. Therefore, the teaching of the Book of Songs is of great significance in Chinese subject which emphasizes instrumental utility and cultural cultivation.The first part provides an overview on the table of contents of the Book of Songs in middle school Chinese textbooks, which not only gives a brief description of the content distribution but also provides evaluation on the subjects according to its classification. The second part discusses the significance of the Book of Songs to middle school Chinese education from three perspectives:artistic value, humanity cultivation and aesthetic appreciation development. The third part focuses on the status quo of the Book of Songs in contemporary middle school Chinese teaching. Moreover, it also points out the existing teaching misunderstandings and reasons contributing to those problems. The fourth part proposes recommendations for the contents of the Book of Songs as well as teaching strategies in middle school Chinese teaching. The former part introduces the author’s ideas on the expansion of scope and selection principles of the Book of Songs. However, the latter part demonstrates the teaching strategies in the following three aspects:the guidance of affection, more emphasis on intonating and enhancement of self-exploration and reflection on the Book of Songs for the students. It attempts to exert a positive impact on the present contents of the Book of Songs in Chinese teachings.The teaching significance of the Book of Songs remains to be furthered tapped and explored, which requires constant exploration and investigation for the general Chinese education workers. |
