Commentary classes of ideology and politics in senior high school is an important class type for ideology and politics in high school, as an excellent commentary class can help students to change their learning methods, correct, consolidate and deepen the knowledge they have learnt. Students’ ability to find out and solve problems can also be cultivated through it; meanwhile, teachers would reflect on their teaching methods and ways timely since the communication between them and students is enhanced by the class, so that teachers’ professional quality and self-development can be promoted.Through analysis on the research status and theoretical basis of the commentary class, the author defines its connotation and summarizes its features. By carrying out questionnaires on some students from all three grades and teachers in high school in Jiangyin, Jiangsu and combining personal observation experiences of classes, the author realizes the teaching status of commentary class for ideology and politics in senior high school and finds out major existing problems of three aspects: insufficient attention paid to class types; simple teaching method; failure to realize combination of ability training,emotional attitude and value. Against these problems, the author proposes solutions for improving the effectiveness of the commentary class on ideology and politics from two aspects including teaching principles and strategies of the commentary class, providing some references to senior high school teachers for their commentary class teaching on ideology and politics.
