The Current Situation Minority Areas Social Work Service

With the accelerating urbanization in China, people’s demands on social services have gradually increased, dynamically and complicatedly developed. As the only one Korean autonomous prefecture, strong social changes caused by urbanization, low birth rate and aging in Yanbian have posed great challenges to social services in minority areas, which have countered difficult problems in social governance and services while pushing their own economy forward. And it has become an effective means to develop social work and optimize social work and service modes based on the multi-ethnical cultures in minority areas. And social service center, as the carrier of social work, participates in community social work by undertaking part of governmental functions.Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture has not only the common characteristics of public service in social service, but also affects by multiple factors such as region, nationality, culture, economy and society. Especially as a labor export region, large amounts of empty nesters and leftover children have made social work center in this area face more difficulties. Difficulties have been especially beset in such aspects as juvenile protection, social assistance for children in need, home-based care for empty-nest and left-behind elderly, juvenile delinquency prevention, comprehensive treatment of social order, etc.. Therefore, this research, choosing Yanji Warm Sun Social Service Center, Yanji New Mileage Social Service Center and Yanji Elderly Delights Social Service Center as study objects, explores a good running mode of social service center in minority areas by field investigation on the current running status of the three social service centers to promote a better development of social service in minority areas.In terms of research method, the author adopts interviewing method, questionnaire survey and documentary method. The author made depth interview on the heads of the three centers, meanwhile interviewed other social workers and community residents, issued questionnaires for workers in these centers and analyzed them with SPSS statistical software, and finally provides corresponding solutions and suggestions on the basis of investigation and analysis.
