| As is well-known to us, the ultimate aim of language learning is to promote the communication ability and make the learners use the language properly and decently.For every student, the acquisition of the language ability will benefit him/her a lot in his/her lifetime. However, after learning English for many years, most of the middle school students still feel it difficult to communicate freely with others in English. Now with the further operation of the curriculum reform, the new teaching methods have been presented in different classes, and among them is the interactive teaching approach,which stresses on building up a students-centered model in the efficient English classroom teaching and developing students’ oral-communication ability. Interactive teaching approach meets the English curriculum standards, aiming at inspiring learners to improve their language abilities by using target language to interact with others.Based on the Interaction Hypothesis Theory, Constructive Learning Theory and Dewey’s Democratic Classroom Theory, this thesis explores whether the middle school students’ English speaking ability and English learning interests can be improved effectively through the interactive teaching approach. This research mainly applies the questionnaire method, the classroom observation method and the interview method to obtain the relevant data and the information. Then the data are analyzed by frequency analysis, independent sample T test, multiple linear regression, pearson r correlation and chi square test. After this, this paper obtains the following results: the interactive teaching approach can improve the students’ oral English ability effectively, but it hasn’t been applied efficiently by most teachers. In view of the current situation of the middle school students’ oral English teaching, this research finds out the main factors influencing on the application of the interactive teaching approach include following aspects: students’ English learning interests, acceptance capability, characteristics,emotional expressions, teachers’ English proficiency, evaluation method, ability oforganizing activities, class size effect and the relationship between teacher and students.According to the problems, this paper offers some teaching suggestions for reference through the reflection to the application of interactive oral English teaching approach. Teachers should use a variety of interactive forms to mobilize the enthusiasm of students’ oral English learning. In the English classroom teaching, the teachers can set up reasonable teaching goals to help students interact, create effective classroom teaching environment to promote students to interact and establish efficient incentive mechanism to encourage students to interact. What’s more, they can organize varied group activities to guide students to interact with others. At the same time, in order to improve the quality of interactive teaching teachers should constantly improve their comprehensive English proficiency and develop their competence to organize the class. |
