Since the opening-up to the outside world in china,the increasing communication with the outside world has required a large number of people with a good command of English. The ultimate goal of language teaching is to foster the students' ability to communicate in English effectively. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing play important role in communication. This thesis is intended to draw attention to a crucial aspect of communicative language skills"interaction", which seems to be the key of success in English teaching and learning.Under current circumstances, the inquiry of the interactive approach to oral English teaching lies in classroom interaction. This thesis illustrate the first chapter which deals with the concept of"interaction", examines the relevant researches and provides an overview of the current chinese classroom interaction,explaining the importance of interaction approach in English classes. The second chaper poses an interaction approach hypothesis in spoken English teaching as well as its theoretical basis. It also gives us the reasons for presenting the hypothesis. Some important strategies are introduced in the third chapter as well as some important interaction patterns, and the ways to perform the classroom interaction approach. In order to test the hypothesis, an experiment is presented in this chapter too. The teaching experiment included interview of students, questionnaires and a variety of interactive oral activities. There are some extracurricular activities catering to the high level students. The experimental class adopted the interaction teaching approach while the controlled class used the traditional teaching method. After a period time of performance, there are a series of comparisions. From the comparisions, we got a brief summary of the teaching experiment, Some discussions are provided in chapter four which include advantages and disadvantanges of the interaction approach and some challenges as well as feasibility in inquiring the approach. The last part presents implications and suggetions which includes advantages, disadvantages of interaction and research limitation.Under the current situation, the interaction teaching approach still has a long way to go. As a English teacher, we should improve our own qualification in order to attain the ideal goal of oral English teaching and learning .
