In this paper, the case-based local-geography teaching on the basis of the "3S" technology in Yiwu City is studied, so as to, from the levels of teaching idea and techniques, arouse geography teachers’enthusiasm about the "3S" technology and case-based local-geography teaching as well as encourage such application attempts. Firstly, the background and significance of cased-based local-geography education on the basis of the "3S" technology are expounded:the combination of the "3S" technology and local geographical cases is a good local-education approach for middle school students, against the background of a new round of high-school education reform, which highlights quality education, comprehensive development and learning-efficiency improvement by means of reducing learning tasks and guaranteeing learning effects; based on the basic situation of local area, this innovative approach offers brand-new perspectives and thoughts for curricular setting, stimulates students’ interest and motivation in the study of geography lessons, provides students with "practical" geographical knowledge, and cultivates talents who can make contributions to the social, economic and cultural construction in local area. Secondly, the basic content, methods and technical routes in this research is detailed, the development statuses of domestic and foreign research in this field are analyzed, and the status of the application of local-geographic cases to high-school geography teaching is investigated by referring to the theory of constructivism, the theory of "exemplary teaching", and so on; and accordingly, the combination of the "3S" technology and local-geographic cases in high-school geography teaching is proposed, which is significative and objectively necessary, the materials of the local-geographic cases in Yiwu City are listed, the principles for selecting and employing local-geographic cases are explored, and the "3S"-technology based application of local-geographic cases to Yiwu’s local-geography education is mainly discussed through illustration from four aspects, namely, the development of school-based curricula, the integration of teaching methods, the teaching of practice curricula for comprehensive activities, and the exercises for specific knowledge points. Finally, the problems existing in the "3S" technology’s application to high-school geography teaching and in the specific implementation process of local-geography case-based teaching are pointed out, and the corresponding suggestions are put forward. In this paper, the specific practice of applying the combination of the "3S" technology and local-geography cases to high-school geography teaching is explored profoundly in order to reveal to teachers the advantages of this combination in teaching, with the purpose of improving geography education in high schools.
