In traditional primary English teaching, teacher dominate the teaching and leaning process, students are passive learners, which contributes students’ low level of participation and a mere formality of class activities, which means it can not actually encourage students’ interest in English learning. Children programming software Scratch possess character of easy programming, Apart from this, courseware designed by Scratch can realize interactive function. Meanwhile, Scratch based on JAVA structure, which benefits works’ publishing Therefore, it has great advantages to apply Scratch in primary English teaching. This study adopts experimental research method, and verifies hypothesis that application of Scratch in primary English teaching can promote English teaching. This paper aims at enriching and perfecting theory study of Scratch’s application in teaching. Meanwhile, it aims at offer constructive and realistic teaching guidance for realistic teaching.This paper mainly consists of five parts.Part one is based on various civil and foreign documents and analyzes current research status, and describes relevant concepts and theories.Part two is teaching design based on relevant theories, which concludes description of teaching idea, design of teaching process model and teaching case.Part three is a description of study simple and method. Including analyzing the data, comparison between experimental and control group before and after experiment, comparison of experimental group between before and after experiment, comparison of control group between before and after experiment, and discussion of results.Part four including analyzing reasons of results and advice for application of Scratch in English teaching.Part five is conclusion, which outlooks direction of future study based on analyzing drawbacks of this study.The innovation of this thesis is that it adopts experimental research method to reveal educational value and meaning of Scratch, which can provide theoretical and practical references for further study about educational value of Scratch.
