Through literature study, logical analysis and expert interview, this paper studies what wushu and calligraphy have in common, based on objective and profound analyses, from the perspective of the realm, of wushu and calligraphy in terms of historical origin, the use of techniques, the art aesthetic and other aspects. The study of the use of wushu techniques indicates that wushu and calligraphy share many similarities in technical principles. Wushu study is beneficial to the calligraphy lovers in that it will help them understand the techniques of wushu, which can be applied to improving the art and skill of calligraphy. Calligraphy study, on the other hand, is conducive to those who practice wushu, enabling them to understand the secret of wushu’s attack and defence skills as well as the force principle of wushu, and thus improve their technical level in wushu practice. The study of the art aesthetic shows that learning calligraphy can improve the aesthetic standard of the wushu practioners themselves, and is advantageous to the arrangement of wushu movement, the ability to understand the wushu movements and the improvement of the aesthetic feeling of martial arts performance. While practicing wushu, calligraphy lovers will draw their inspiration in calligraphy creation from the different flavors displayed in various varieties of boxing and sports apparatus used, and thus instill a unique flavor in their works of calligraphy. The study of the realm of "Tao," or the "way", found in wushu and calligraphy reveals that both wushu and calligraphy fall into the category of culture. In the process of learning wushu and calligraphy, their cultural attribute exerts a subtle influence on the perfection of the learner’s personality and nature of the mind, their thought and morality, as well as the elevation of their spiritual realm.
