Calligraphy is the expression of "East Asian consciousness" in the cultural field and has become an important issue of education in China and South Korea.Both countries have issued a series of policy texts to promote the development of calligraphy education.Textbooks are the entry point for the study of calligraphy education.Scholars have paid attention to the comparative study of calligraphy textbooks,but they lack an international perspective and the textbook versions are relatively outdated.There are still many problems to be solved in calligraphy textbooks in terms of goals,content selection,and presentation forms.The core issue of the difference between Chinese and Korean calligraphy textbooks is studied,methods of descriptive analysis and comparative analysis are applied.Based on cognitive learning theory,example teaching theory and double coding theory,11 sets of calligraphy textbooks in Chinese mainland,2 sets of calligraphy textbooks in Taiwan and 7 sets of calligraphy textbooks in South Korea are explored.Based on the existing textbook analysis framework and calligraphy textbook analysis framework,combined with the characteristics of calligraphy textbooks,the research framework of this thesis is constructed.Then,the calligraphy policy and the history of textbook development in China and South Korea are combed.The development characteristics of calligraphy textbooks at each stage are summarized,and the development basis of the current calligraphy textbooks in the two countries are compared.the goals,structure,content and form of calligraphy textbooks in the two countries are analyzed,and the characteristics of calligraphy textbooks in China and South Korea are summarized.The findings are as follows: Firstly,Chinese and Korean calligraphy teaching materials pay attention to both cognitive and non-cognitive goals,but their ability levels are different..Secondly,the pluralistic view of learning and teaching are reflected in two countries,including Behaviorism,Cognitivism and Humanism as well as Contextual Learning,Understanding Learning and Community-based Learning,the Cooperative Teaching Method,the Discussion Teaching Method and The situational teaching method are embodied.Lastly,the content and form of the teaching material have different emphases.The former is reflected in material selection,teaching column and exercise design.The latter is reflected between the guiding language and the illustrations.The advantages of Chinese calligraphy textbooks are as follows: First,the goals of the textbooks are both cognitive and non-cognitive.Second,the compilation concept is more advanced,in line with the learning concept advocated by learning science.Third,practice and technique learning are emphasized.Fourth,the double encoding of pictures and text is conducive to deepening learners' understanding of calligraphy.At the same time,there are also several shortcomings.First,the level of educational goals is low,Second,the evaluation of calligraphy teaching materials is still limited to the cognitive level.Third,from the perspective of textbook compilation structure and teaching structure,there is a problem of skipping learning and the lack of metacognition.finally,the moral education function of calligraphy textbooks is not used well.By contrast,the advantages of Korean calligraphy textbooks are as follows: first,the level of educational goals is higher than that of China.Second,it meets the requirements of learning science for the concept of textbook compilation.Third,the historical tradition of " common origins of calligraphy and painting " and the cognitive laws of learners are respected,highlight the foundation of calligraphy learning.The disadvantage is that it ignores calligraphy practice,pays less attention to calligraphy than China,and does not pay attention to technique learning.Based on this,the development direction of calligraphy textbooks in China is proposed: developing educational goals level by level and shift to higher-order learning;Taking advantage of the moral function of calligraphy textbooks and move towards "Key Competencies";establishing a formative feedback mechanism and focusing on evaluation of non-cognitive goals;Optimizing the structure of teaching materials and strengthen the balanced choice of knowledge types.The Chinese calligraphy teaching material system also includes an English version,such as "China's Calligraphy",it published by Guangdong Education Press.In the future,we should continue to promote the "going global" strategy of calligraphy textbooks,internationally-oriented calligraphy textbooks should adopt a multidisciplinary perspective and optimize the staffing structure;moreover,increasing the flexibility of calligraphy textbooks;at the same time,adhering to the publication orientation and Innovate the learning system of calligraphy teaching materials.
