A Study On High School Students’Reading Status And Strategy In Internet Age

PURPOSE:To understand the high school students’reading characteristics by investigating their reading habits and Internet uses.Then according to some related theories, analyzes the influence factors, proposes some strategies and supporting measures to promote the development of the high school students’reading.METHODS: Questionnaire survey and interview method are used to investigate the students in3high schools(1key school and2non-key schools) in Kunming. in order to analyze the collected data,SPSS17.0and Excel are used.RESULTS:①High school students’ reading time is limited,their reading amount is low.they like reading at home,prefer science fiction,classic literature and Inspirational books.Personal interests,recommendation of classmates and video works are their main information sources.Most of them obtain reading materials from bookstores and online bookstores,or download from internet.Most of them read for pleasure,not for getting good grades.The differences between schools,grades,sex and science classes are significant,the reading time is positively correlated with the time spending in internet,but the correlation with their parents reading is poor.②Internet has been changing the high school students’ reading and living, internet is their favorite activity in spare time,wireless internet is their primary means of access,they use internet for entertainment,meanwhile,online reading is popular in high school students,they like cell phone reading very much.③The high school students’library usage is not good,and family reading atmosphere is poor.CONCLUSIONS:①Internet,library,school and family are playing an important role in high school students’ reading.②Library should improve and extend it’s service,develop high school students’ reading service.School should realize the importance of promoting students’ reading,carrying out reading programs,guiding students’ online reading.Building good atmosphere of social reading and family reading is very important.③Establishing relevant measures to ensure the reading constancy and efficacy is essential.
