The 21 st century, mankind has entered the information age.Now, information technology has developed very fast, and people paid more attention on educational informationalization, the same time, schools became introduce many kinds of information technology into teaching, it not only improved the teaching efficiency, but changed the teaching methods of teachers. As a new information technology, interactive whiteboard is widely used in teaching. Interactive whiteboard is combined with computer technology, microelectronics technology and electronics communication technology; it is new teaching equipment which has a function of human-computer interaction. It changed previous teaching methods, it not only brought convenience to teaching, but also aroused students’ interest of learning English, the meantime, and it created a relaxed and happy learning environment, so it is more and more popular among teachers and students.First of all, this paper starts with the carding of document on the domestic and overseas, and then systemizes the concept and the development process of Interactive whiteboard, at last sums up the function, characteristics and advantages of Interactive whiteboard. The author selected three high schools to understand the application status of interactive whiteboard, then analysis the problems existing in the teaching, inductive reasons and puts forward effective resolution strategy, the author hope it can be useful to the further English teaching.This research mainly includes the following several aspects:(1) This aspect analyses the research background, purpose of research, research significance, research method, theoretical basis and research status on the domestic and overseas.(2) The author introduces the concept, development process, function and characteristics, and then the author discusses the significance, characteristics of English of high school, and the application value of interactive whiteboard in high school English teaching; in order to understand the application status of the interactive whiteboard of the high school English teaching.(3)The author choose questionnaire survey and interview method, then analysis the data; then the author analyzes the problems existing in the teaching and inducts reasons; this aspect puts forward effective resolution strategy.(4) There is a Summary and outlook at last, the author summarizes the main content of this paper, and then puts forwards the shortcomings of the research, at last the outlook of further research.
