Abstract/Summary:
There are a large number of underachievers in high school, who bring us a serious problem —how to help the underachievers. Not only is the problem in high school, but it is a difficult task in China. There are not two same leaves in the world, so we must accept and try to make them behave well. Meanwhile, most of the underachievers want to make progress, so we should help them get over some difficulties and find solutions to improve them.As educators, we must respect everyone in our school. Everyone is the hope of their family. At one time, we only paid more attention to the excellent students, while the underachievers are also the constructors in the future who now need more care and our patience. However, it is not easy for us to help them make great progress. It will take us longer time and more energy to enhance them. Therefore, seeking effective strategies to help them succeed in future is our responsibility as well as one of the education aims in high school.According to the relevant literature to summarize the underachiever mainly for two types: the underachiever in learning and the underachiever on character. Thus from the perspective of geography, this article set out countermeasures on the transformation of the underachiever from two aspects of learning and character.Through interviewing with a gleam of geograph teachers and investigating the underachiever’s learning experience of the geography, it analyzs the relations between enhancing the underachievers and geography teaching. Geography is closely related to our life and is in connection with some poems and songs in literature in the teaching and learning process. When teaching geography, we can adopt many ways, enhancing the interest of our students, especially for the underachievers. Geography is also the source of love and can enhance the underachievers’ confidence, strengthen their sense of responsibility and their mission, inspire their national pride and foster correct world values and views on life. Geography learning can also cultivate their qualities.This paper also carries out the transformation of the underachiever in geography teaching case analysis, and shows some specific teaching designs in the geographical teaching process. the author notices that the teaching design can stimulate students’ interest in learning in the classroom, especially pays attention to cultivate the students’ moral character and emotion. In the process of designing teacher’s activities, the author tries to collect materials, teaching cases and online coursewares related to the teaching content, and looks for some knowledge and methods that is easy to accepted by students and improve students’ interests. The author also tries to dig the moral education content involved in materials, cultivates emotion or alarms through the examples of social life. When designing student activities,the author gives more opportunities for students to participate in some activities in person as far as possible and express their own ideas, so as to correct their bad thoughts and behaviors and guide students to improve their qualities.Through some specific teaching designs in the process of geography teaching, it analyzes the result of the transformation of the underachiever class teached by the author himself, drawing the conclusion: as long as paying attention to arouse the learning interest of the underachiever and paying attention to permeation of the moral education contents in the geography teaching design and teaching process, the underachiever’s grades will be improved and moral qualities will be improved.Finally this paper puts forward the countermeasures of transformation of the underachiever in geography teaching: how to heighten the underachievers’ interest and improve their moral levels in geography class. Using the principle of combining theory and practice, it can improve the classroom activity; By the strategy of traditional and modern combination, it can stimulate students desire for knowledge, so improving the learning interest of the underachiever. Using comparising method, it can cultivate the underachiever’s feelings of love; On the basis of dichotomy, it can arouse the underachiever’s spiritual power; Through the teaching design, it can improve the underachiever’s equality and cooperating consciousness; Through the geographic extracurricular activities, it can establish the underachiever’s scientific attitude. Using the above measures can improve the moral level of the underachiever. So searching for some strategies to help the underachievers succeed is very important in our teaching.
