Higher Applied Mathematics will be published by my Publishing House in2011, which will be used by college students in our province. It is the first time that my Publishing house published college teaching materials. The teaching materials are difficult to be edited, and the time to edit is limited. In order to publish the materials on time, we decided to do it with project management.Firstly, this paper describes the background, purport, significant, content, train of thought, and the concept of the publishing project management. Those are the theoretical base of the paper. Secondly, the paper introduces that the whole plan of the publishing and the main contents of the project. The paper describes the opportunities and difficulties of the project, the main purports and principles. Thirdly, the paper expounds the progress plan and progress control, including process and methods. The progress plan and progress control is made by network planning, Gantt charts, critical path method, milestones planning. During the process of the project, we find that the progress indeed is different with the progress plan. Then the methods of controlling progress are used in order to finish the project on time. The result of the paper shows that the management of project is useful in the publishing of the teaching materials; the influence of the team of the project and other departments in the Publishing House is large to the project, and sometimes because of this, the project can not finished on time; the progress controlling appears certainly in the process of the projects; in order to finish the project on time smoothly, the critical path method is important.
