Junior middle school history of main function is to teach students the necessary knowledge of history, train students’ correct emotion attitude and values. Historical knowledge is mainly made up of people, time, place and events. History tells the story of mankind, so is the core content of history.Using character teaching method has a certain value in history teaching. A large number of characters in the history teaching material characters introduction and illustration provides help for teachers to carry out the historical teaching. Practice has proved that using characters in history teaching method can improve the students’ interest in learning can play to the educational function of history discipline again.In this paper, in accordance with the requirements of the new history curriculum standards for history class, absorb the related research results fully.I elaborate the advantages of character teaching.I classify historical figures of the junior middle school history books which is published by east China normal university.The historical figures are classified teaching design and I explain the matters needing attention in teaching.Firstly I analyze the advantages of historical teaching. Through the interpretation of historical figures in the history teaching to recuperate historical scene, help students understand history knowledge; Through introducing excellent historical events can be intuitive to the students passed the patriotic ideas, correct values, the perseverance, fully stimulate history educating function; Characters teaching method to teach students in evaluation of historical figures in the materialism is used comprehensive,objective and fair view of the characters;Historical teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning, increase vitality of the history classroom; Thevivid image of historical figures teaching is helpful to create a good learning atmosphere. Using characters in history teaching method of teaching is the trend of history course reform.Then I classify characters of the junior middle school history books which is published by east China normal university according to the different professional roles.Next according to the deeds of the historical figures of the junior middle school history books which is published by east China normal university classified teaching. According to the deeds of the historical figures divided them into three categories, One is the teaching of historical figures of positive story, the second is the teaching of historical figures of negative deeds,the third is the teaching of controversial historical figure.When designing positive deeds of historical teaching,we should dig more historical figures, let the students by their example and pass the positive energy;When designing negative deeds of historical teaching,the key is taking history as a mirror,draw lessons from this kind of historical figures, so as to train students’ correct values;When designing to teach controversial historical figure, the main thing is to let students understand respecting objective facts, grasp the mainstream, see key and can treat figure dialectically.Finally I elaborate matters needing attention of character teaching and historical figures. Teaching method to use historical figures for history class,the teacher must have a select collection of historical materials,take the student as the center to dig the teaching material deeply, don’t blindly use character teaching method, flexible in classroom teaching, after class to reflect their own teaching activities in time, build up the idea of lifelong learning. Only do these, the teacher can give full play to the role of the historical teaching, to cultivate qualified for the society, the practice of socialist core values of the citizens.
