China is now at the stage of fast transformation,a lot of migrant workers come to the urban areas after leaving their hometown.Meanwhile,most of their children also come to the urban area and study at public schools that designated by the government for receiving children of school age with non-local household registration.Under this circumstance,it is a breakthrough to solve the problems of English reading from shortening the gap in English proficiency between migrant workers' children and local students.Moreover,based on the theory of effective teaching,this paper reviews related research documents at 'home and abroad and takes migrant workers' children in Xiamen for example.Class 3 and 4 of grade two in Xiamen Yucai Middle School and class 5 and 6 of the grade two in Meilin Middle School are chosen as the research objects.In order to assure the objectivity of research,the author not only distributes questionnaires,but also interviews 5 English teachers in grade two and 20 students those who are migrant workers' children.The author collects the data and information about learning status of migrant workers' children in middle school English reading from two aspects,such as students' "learning" and teacher's "teaching" by using questionnaire survey,interview,observation and literature review.Through investigation,it is found that migrant workers'children in Xiamen encounter serious problems about middle school English reading.They mainly suffer from the impacts of 5 factors such as family environment,mobility of learning,students' personal situation,teacher's teaching and policy.In view of the above problems,the author proposes related improvement suggestions with the hope of providing suggestions for the middle school English reading of migrant workers' children in"teaching" and "learning",so as to facilitate development of English teaching.
