In recent years, with the social needs and academic pressure, there is another group of college entrance examination that is the number of art students is growing year by year. Since this special group’s scale is becoming larger sothat more and more colleges are starting out to establish the art class.A combination of art students’ specialized characteristics and solid geometry’s features, the author made a investigation about spatial imagination of art students through the Solid Geometry in art school for three years. First of all, according to the purpose of research, for the research’s content, the author made a problem analysis, illustrated its significance and made a deeply research about the art students’ characteristics.Secondly, on the basis of research objects, the author took good use of a lot of literatures to make a definition of spatial imagination, distinguish spatial imagination from spatial ability and make a conclusion about all respects of researches of spatial imagination. Besides, the author explained the relationship between art and geometry as well as spatial imagination. The research showed that there was a lot of to do between art students’ specialized characteristics and solid geometry. As a result, the spatial imagination of art students have an advantage over other students to learn solid geometry well.Thirdly, in the light of research problem, the author made the questionnaire survey,paper examination and individual interviews to art students, cultural students.What’s more, in order to knowing the current situation oflearning solid geometry’s about art students, the author interviewed the math teacher of art class. And the author also interviewed the mathematics teaching and research section forknowing the difficulties of learning solid geometry of art students.Finally, as a result of research and teaching experience, the author analyzed the reasons learning solid geometry. This paper is to study it in the following four aspects: the subjective cognition of art students about learning solid geometry; learning solid geometry influenced by foundation of mathematics for art and cultural students; the study status of solid geometry for the senior high school students; and the influence of gender in learning solid geometry.The author found that art students can not learn solid geometry very well, which was difficult to solve this problem. Therefore, the author made a survey in order to lay asolid foundation for further research. However, the author just aimed at one art school as a research object, which can not stand for all art students, so this paper simply offers some valuable suggestions to other authors.
