As a kind of games, sports game is a modern game method by the basic body exercise way in a form of game. It aims to enhance people’s physical fitness and develop one’s temperament. There are two kinds of sports games, one is activity games, and the other is competitive games. There are four characters of sports games, they are competitiveness, easy to implement, educational and interesting. Sports game is a means for teacher to organize students to doing sports. It is also an important part of school sports. Sports games can not only stimulate students’ interest in learning, but also helps them acquire motor skills. Game method is a kind of teaching methods in which teachers can use sports game rationally in all aspects of the process of physical education.Currently, tennis is loved by the majority of college students, and there is a tennis fever in college campus. Tennis lessons become one of the college students preferred sports programs. Since the basic techniques of tennis have great difficulty, most beginners’ interests in tennis lessons decline after a period of study. In class, students’ interests of practice decline and their mastery of technical movements are slow, so that the teaching effect is not ideal. The rational use of game methods in universities’ tennis teaching is favorable to students’ interest in tennis. And it can promote their initiative in tennis learning, and to master the basic techniques of tennis more quickly and efficiently. This paper makes comparison among the three basic physical fatnesses of the experimental group before and after teaching and experiments, their training attitude and the basic and timely grasp level of tennis by a method of sports game, through the methods of making intervention the experimental class, taking physical tests, psychological scale and basic tennis skills. It aims to reveal the relationship among the various factors in experiment and prove game methods’ promotion effect to universities’ tennis teaching. The results show as follows:(1)According to the statistics and analysis results of the experimental classes and the control classes before teaching experiment, we can know that there is no significant difference in students’ training attitude and body cases of the two classes. From this result, we can see that the students’ improvements in physical fitness level, basic training attitude and the tennis basic skill level of the experimental class after the experiment is greater than the control class, and it’s unrelated to the initial state of the two classes.(2)Through the comparative analysis of the two classes’ training attitude after experiment, we can draw the following conclusions: the experimental class is better than the control class in every dimension, especially in the target attitudes and behavioral intentions. It is suggested that sports game approach in teaching can improve students’ training attitude.(3)According to the paired test results and training attitude of the two classes before and after experiment, the performances of the two classes are as follows: the significant changes of the control class are only reflected in the dimension of the behavioral intention. But to the experimental class, there are not only significant changes in the dimension of behavioral intention, and also significant improvement in the dimension of emotional experience and objective attitude. This indicates that compared with the conventional teaching, the teaching method of sports game have a greater and more profound impact to students’ training attitude.(4)Though data from the paired sample T test of the two classes conducted before and after experiment, we can know that there is no significant difference in the physical fitness of the students in two classes, but in the respect of improvement degree, the experimental class is better than the control class. This suggests that to some extent, the intervention of sports game in teaching promote students’ better development in terms of basic physical fitness.(5)Before experiment, students of two classes have no contact to tennis. According to the results of two classes’ basic tennis skill level after experiment, compared with the control class, the improvement extent in the basic tennis skill level of the experimental class which is imposed sports game intervention is greater. That demonstrates that in the extent of mastering basic tennis skill, the sports game invention in teaching has a positive effect.(6)Used in the traditional teaching, this novel method of sports game can help students increase their motivation in participating exercise. Specific to the experiment, the most intuitive feelings are as follows: compared with the traditional teaching, the situation of students’ enthusiasm, attendance and training attitude in class and the teaching effectiveness are all improved. As the increasing of students’ interest in tennis exercise, their mastering situation of tennis skill and the corresponding score are greatly improved. And students’ physical fitness has a good development.
