The main mission of graduate education is to create new knowledge and explore unknown, in order to promote the development of academic and cultivate innovative persons who are needed by academic progress and the development of social undertakings. With the continuous expansion of graduate education,the number of graduate students has been ranked the second in the world, following the United States. The quality of graduate students is at the risk of decline, while the quantity keep growing. As for this, how to improve the quality of graduate students has been concerned by communities. As the basic unit of training graduate students, Universities, in charge of graduate education, must take measures to ensure the quality of graduate education.In order to improve the quality of full-time academic graduate education, this thesis has conducted research at the Hunan S University to find the problems in the education quality assurance of academic graduate students, through analyzing the data by combining relative theories. Hunan S University is a comprehensive national key university, which graduate scale is on the middle and upper levels of our country. So, the problems it exists in graduate education quality assurance can reflect the situation of other universities in the quality assurance of graduate education issue in some distance.This study obtains full-time academic graduate education quality assurance problems of Hunan S University through questionnaires and interviews in three aspects. Firstly, the security of input, i.e.guarantee the quality of students; Secondly, the security of process, including construction of physical facilities and tutor ’ s team, research funding, curriculum and teaching quality management, quality and campus culture, etc; Finally, the security of output, dissertation quality assurance and students’ achievement in scientific research. By analyzing the survey results, the main problems are as follows: the high student-teacher ratio, no enough teaching hardware conditions, imperfect curriculum, no strict management of teaching quality. This thesis analyzed the issues from three aspects, including society, universities and graduate students, and find that the students whose motivation of study for a master’s degree are promoting academic levels study harder than other students; students who communicate with tutors frequently have get more academic achievements than others.In conclusion, this thesis gives recommendations on school management, tutors’ instruction and students’ study, applying sociology, theory of management, psychology and pedagogy.
