| With the highly development of civilization in modern society, the requirements forward elites tend to be diverse. It is difficult to adapt the traditionally single definition of gender roles to the complex and changing society. The consciousness of gender roles will not only affect personal development in the future, but also can pose great effects on society development. Middle School Stage is the golden time to develop students’ learning abilities and social adaption, at the same time,it is the key period to cultivate personal consciousness of gender roles. Based on that, with the help of BSRI and SAS-SSS, this research aims to describe the pattern distribution of middle school students’ gender roles and the level of social adaption, to testify whether androgyny has higher level of social adaption, to discuss the difference of the pattern of gender role and social adaption and to find out the factors affecting gender roles and development of students in middle school, by targeting 825 students from 6 middle school in Shanghai.The results show as following:(1)Among students in middle school, the distribution of four kinds of gender role patterns very obviously, androgynous types majority, followed by the feminine type, undifferentiated type, and finally the masculine type.(2)The obvious difference of the distribution of gender role pattern is mainly reflected on sex and type of school, not on grade.(3)The average social adaption of students in middle school is at a medium level, while the number of people owning high social adoption is in mi nority.(4)There exists an obvious difference of social adaption among different patterns of gender role, which shows that androgyny pattern is the best choice of gender role as students with it share the highest social adaption.(5)Major factors affecting students’ development of gender roles are the expectations of parents, the relationship between the parents and father’s personality. |
