| With the rapid development of economic globalization, the international community appears in the multilingual and multicultural trend. Language development of children in multi-language environment has become a hot topic in the field of international pre-school education. This study focuses on the current English language learning situation in Shanghai, aiming at providing relevant recommendations for pre-school children.The researcher selected 400 children,935-teachers,1376 parents from 15 kindergartens in Shanghai as the object of the study. The researcher analyzed the language environment and English learning situation of 4-6 years old children in shanghai by children’s multi-language environment in Shanghai (the teacher questionnaire and the parent questionnaire). The researcher also used the Preschool Language Scales (PLS-4) to analyze the English skill of 4-6 years old children in Shanghai, and PPVT, EVT to analyze Chinese receptive and expressive skill of 4-6 years old children in Shanghai.The research found that although Shanghai is already in the multi-culture and multi-language environment. The vast majority of parents was concerned about their children’s English learning and had a strong appeal on it. However, the overall English level of 4-6 years old children in Shanghai was relatively poor compared to children from other multi-language environment.Finally, based on the above analysis, researcher tried to provide suggests for the Shanghai Municipal Government for formulating the pre-school language education policy and for kindergartens to have English education properly, and to help parents to rationally see children’s English education. |
