Early2000s, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council issued two new standards relatedto mathematics curriculum. The new curriculum standards in the curriculum concept, course objectives,course content and course requirements made significant changes, and high school mathematics teachingushered in a new teaching reform according to it. As an important factor that affects the classroom teaching,teaching methods inevitably catch the attention of the general education workers and a variety of differentteaching methods also emerge in endlessly. Therefore, how to choose the suitable teaching method is anurgent need as an education worker to consider.To select suitable methods for high school math teaching, we need to learn about high schoolmathematics teaching. First, understand the present situation of mathematics teaching in high school;Second, the principal position of students in the classroom determine that we have to understand theproblems existed in the high school students when studying mathematics; Third, analysis how to usemathematics teaching method to cultivate the students’ mathematical thinking.Clear understanding of mathematics teaching method is the premise to choose the teachingmethod. The thesis introduced the meaning of mathematics teaching method, described in details thedevelopment process of mathematics teaching methods in our country, and analyzed specifically severalcommon teaching methods of high school mathematics teaching in the present stage. In the end, the authorgave some of his own opinions based on the existing teaching methods.Basis for the selection of mathematics teaching method is the focus of this article: First, in orderto receive better classroom teaching effectiveness, physiological and psychological characteristics of highschool students should not be ignored when choosing the teaching method; Second, teaching method isserves for teaching, so teaching goal and task is the direction to choose teaching methods; Third, advancedteaching means provide broad space for the choice of teaching methods; Fourth, mathematics teachingcontent is the starting point and end-result for the choice of teaching methods.
